Stamp Duty is the tax you pay when you buy property. It is calculated as a percentage of the purchase price. It is payable upon completion of your purchase and organised through your solicitor.
First-time buyers
Since 25th March 2010 if you are a first-time buyer the threshold for when you start to pay Stamp duty is £250,000.
